So where did you get that stupid name?

Since I was a child I have always been doing experiments … I just never could see doing everything the same old way everybody else did it … sometimes that caused me trouble … I learned that when you are working for a boss it is better to do it his way first … then after I have mastered his way of doing things then start making improvements. I have become quite careful at work … I like to do my experiments in hiding and be sure it is actually an improvement before presenting my results to the aristocracy.

BUT when I am in my own castle or yard anything can happen.

When I decided to do this blog and share some of my fun experiments …..  I was considering a good name for the blog … I decided that I was an experimentalist … partially in honor of the mentalist on TV but mostly in honor of experiments …

I decided to google      “ experimentalist” … I was disgusted at the result … at the top of the list, …. dictionary entries came up … it is a real word … well that stinks …   then down past the definitions …. some dude in new York has a website … he was already using the name … that stinks even worse … he is some sort of a magician or something …. What a waste of a good name … so I had to come up with something else … I started making lists … I came up with piles and gobs of wonderful names that were not quite right   … then I hit on ICKsperimentalist … it seemed ok … but not quite … I kept coming back to it … the only drawback is the folks that are repulsed by icky things … anyone can see that not all of my experiments are icky … I guess for the people that can’t see    … I can remove the C … if I use IKsperimentalist does that reduce the icky thought?   … but then which is more memorable and easy to spell?   … well then I could use ichsperimentalist for the folks of German or Russian decent … or any of those languages where the words get caught in the throat … that’s words caught in your throat …. not the notes, like the Tuvan throat singers …

So if I have an itch to experiment maybe it should be itchperimentalist …. Bet that’s not a word ….

ex-peer-mentalist …

one whose behavior has caused all his peers to flee

Or  ….  is so different from others that he has no peers

Or  ….   he only has dis peers …. The folk who see him coming and disappear.

Along with all the other good stuff you might find on this blog you can expect to find some wonderful new ideas that have never been thunk before … or some that have been thunk before but not thunk outloud … or some that have been thunk and practiced in the dark and distant past …. or stuff that was thunk on other worlds, but folks here and now don’t know about them … or even stuff that your next door neighbor is doing but didn’t bother to tell you   …

My apologies in advance to any of you out there, including my sisters, who are English teachers, or editors, or ghost writers, or anybody trained in the art of the language, or anyone who does not  like to see the pure language defiled.

I try not to call anybody by name …. Not their real name anyway …. I might make up a few noble titles for folks …. Anyway, if it happens that I am talking about some bad guy …. It’s not you …. it’s some other bad guy …. Or if the bad guy I am talking about does the same kind of stuff you do …. Don’t get offended, just repent …. Chances are those other people have already forgiven you …. If I am part of those other people I have forgiven you …. So the bottom line is  ….   we don’t need people getting offended …. We do need lots of people repenting …. Not just lots of people   …………..   all of us … repenting is such a good exercise   …   it makes us all stronger.
